Obituary

Richard Malkin, 79, passed away peacefully on February 17, beloved husband of the late Laureen Malkin for 47 years; cherished and loving brother of Daryle Malkin; loving uncle of Steven and the late Theodore Mihas; cherished cousin of many; much loved son of the late Anne and Abe Malkin. Richard had careers both as a podiatrist and pharmacist. He was a lover of all animals especially his dog, Caitie. Services have been held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Horizon’s Lawlis Family Hospice (www.horizonhomecareandhospice.org) or your favorite charity. Bernie and I are heartbroken to learn of Richard’s passing. We have been friends for many years. Marianne’s and Laurie’s friendship began in September 1965 at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. There are too many wonderful memories to note here, spanning so many years. Memories include ordinary times spent together – meals out, enjoying times at each others’ homes as well as special times – New Year’s Eve dinners, celebrating the 1976 Bicentennial Day (and Richard’s birthday) by driving up to Lake Geneva, and so much more.

Both Richard and Laurie were very good people and we miss them very much. Richard was particularly devoted to Laurie. Marianne last spoke with him two weeks before his passing. Richard and Laurie will remain in our hearts and memories and prayers as long as we live. May both of them rest in eternal peace.

Richard will be missed by those who knew him. He loved his wife deeply, my sister Laurie, so much and did his best to offer her the help and care she needed from him. They survived together in life and now are together in death. May they both rest in eternal peace free from pain and suffering.
